Since 1990, Shri Bhargava Fibers is busy developing bamboo and developing new applications.

Shedani

Shedani is situated in the western ghats in the state of Maharashtra at an height of about 600mtrs. It has a very high rainfall  which supports the catchment of a dam nearby.

These natural surroundings help for  a very good growth of bamboos.

Most of Shedani's population is that of farmers. The main crop is paddy(rain-fed) as no means of irrigation are available. Training them in bamboo cultivation , harvesting and use of treated bamboo has created new job opportunities. Thus stopping them from migrating to nearby towns and cities for jobs.

After selecting 4 local species, of bamboo many products evolved starting with furniture like chairs, seeties, beds, tables, sofa sets etc. This enabled us getting used to handling bamboo.

Some products like baskets  and handicrafts were also produced using the weaving technique.

Bamboo, after treatment becomes weather resistant and durable. certain species can directly be used for producing smaller structures such as, cow sheds, green houses , temporary shelter etc.

It was decided to use the uniqueness of bamboo , which is its strength  . A process for moulding bamboo with modern resins was established. This eliminated most of the drawbacks such as size variations , decay and susceptibility of pests an decay.

The products , thus moulded were uniform in size , shape and color.
